Pen bits are long brad-point bits with a tip design optimally ground for drilling into end grain. W.L. Fuller bits are US made and are ground to the exact size of the bit, unlike some of the cheap Asian imports on the market now which often vary significantly in size from what is marked on the bit, and can lead to the pen splitting when the mechanism is inserted. W. L. Fuller Company is based in Rhode Island is manufacturing in the US using US made tool steel. W. L. Fuller is a family owned business, which is now operated by the third generation of the Fuller family. In an era of compromised standards, W. L.
