The Dictionary of Victorian Painters, Volumes I & II May 2006 - Out of Print This two volume set of books is the standard reference on British Victorian art. Many would consider the Victorian period to be the true pinnacle of British artistic expression. Certainly no other period has been so productive and today we are left with a vast treasure of Victorian paintings. This book is the best source of information on these paintings that has ever been written. The first volume contains over 11,000 entries, which have been revised and updated where appropriate to reflect recent research. The second volume is just plates that are keyed to the entries in the first volume. 47 color and 750 B&W illustrations. This set is my primary reference.
