Munro Tools Hollowing Tools
The Munro Hollower is the culmination of over ten years of experimentation by Rolly Munro with designs for hollowing tools. Rolly Munro, the founder of Munro Tools is a highly respected wood turner in his native New Zealand and has an international reputation among serious turners. The high speed steel cutter on the Munro Hollower is very hard wearing, and with its clever circular design, the user need only rotate the tip a few degrees to cut on a sharp spot again. Only when the cutter is dull over its full 180 degrees does it need to be sharpened, and then the Munro Hollower is easy to resharpen by rotating on the sharpening dowel against a grinding stone. The short depth gauge on the Munro Hollower allows the tool shaft to bent at sharper angles giving better access to the inside shoulder of hollow forms. The Munro Hollowing tool has only one screw which needs to be slackened to make depth gauge adjustments. Unlike other hollowing tools, the Munro Hollower vents shavings upwards allowing the turner to easily view and monitor cutting performance . This is most useful when making very fine cuts.
The Munro Hollowing tool comes in two sizes. Both size Munro Hollowing Tools come with an aluminum handle with a heavy rubber grip. The Munro Hollowers utilize a telescoping design and the tool shaft retracts into the hollower handle. The hollow aluminium handle is light, and gives excellent support when hollowing a very deep vessel, while leaving the user the option of adding ballast in the form of lead shot if required. The lightness of the handle means that the tool is a dream to use on finer cuts where sensitivity is desirable.
Munro Tools Mega Hollower
Click on Image to Expand The Munro tools Mega Hollower comes with three articulated cutter heads. The cutter itself is the same size on all three heads, but the holders differ in shape. (Short, short-offset, and long-offset, allowing for hollowing around corners and under the shoulders of hollow forms.) Also included is a special tool holder to facilitate sharpening and required allen wrenches. The handle is 18 1/2" long and the retractable tool shaft is about 16 1/2" not counting the cutter head. The maximum working length with the tool fully extended is about 14", not counting the handle or the cutter head. |

Munro Tools Mini Hollower

Also included is a special tool holder to facilitate sharpening and a 3-in-1 allen wrench. The handle is 17 1/2" long and the retractable tool shaft is about 13 1/2" not counting the cutter head.
