Robert Sorby Patriot Chuck
The Robert Sorby Patriot Chuck is an all British made chuck and is Robert Sorby's response to the famous Nova brand chucks moving production to China. Hence the name, "Patriot Chuck." The Robert Sorby Patriot chuck offers a high quality alternative for those of us who put quality first and do not want buy Chinese made tools.
The Robert Sorby Patriot Chuck is comes fitted with 2" (50mm) jaws as standard, but a large selection of other jaws and accessories are also available for the Robert Sorby Patriot chuck. The standard jaws on the Robert Sorby Patriot chuck have an internal and external dovetail and gripper teeth for a better hold on your work piece. Threaded inserts are available that will adapt the Robert Sorby Patriot chuck to any commonly available lathe. One of these inserts comes free of charge with each Robert Sorby Patriot chuck that we sell (other websites that we have seen charge extra for the insert). We stock the 1" X 8" and 1.25 X 8" thread sizes, which are by far the most common headstock spindle thread sizes in North America. For other sizes we will special order the adapter for you, which takes about 10 days for you to receive. | RSWC | Patriot Chuck Wobble Chuck The Wobble Chuck is an inexpensive introduction to off-centre or eccentric turning. It fits in the standard 2" jaws of the Patriot chuck in the same manner as a faceplate ring. The workpiece can be held by three screws - like a faceplate - or by a single wood screw - like a screw chuck - or by both means. It is then off-set by rotating the upper section of the Wobble Chuck. Ideal for goblets with off-set stems. A great opportunity to experiment with novel projects. |
