Auriou is one of the finest carving chisel manufactures in the world. Auriou carving chisels are hand made in France to a standard that equals or exceeds anything else we have seen. For us, pre-War English chisels, such as Addis chisels, are the standard by which all others are judges. Ironically, it is Auriou, a French manufacturer, that comes the closest to matching the quality of the pre-War English carving chisels. The set that we offer here was suggested by a famous English carver, and represents a great starting point for a bigging carver. Like Ashley Iles and Henry Taylor, Auriou makes hundreds of different carving chisels. The selection of Auriou carving chisels that we offer here will satisfy the needs of most carvers, but of course we can special order anything Auriou makes.

Besides carving chisels, Auriou makes a full line of hand-cut rifflers and rasps for carvers and woodworkers, which we also stock.

Note: The numbering system used here is based on the "London Pattern" system laid out by the English carving chisel makers in the 19th Century and the still the generally accepted standard in the English speaking world for classifying carving chisels. The French do not use this system, but for ease of selection we have translated the Auriou chisels into the equivalent "London Pattern" numbers where applicable.
