Auriou Carver's Parting (V) Chisels
Just like the other Auriou carving chisel lines, Auriou has a broad selection of parting tools (V tools). Not only does Auriou make parting tools in the 3 common angles, 45, 60, & 90 degrees, but Auriou also still makes a spoon parting tools. I have seen old Addis spoon parting tools, but I am not aware of any other manufacture besides Auriou still making this style of carving chisel. While the Auriou spoon V is a difficult chisel to make, it is also a very useful chisel and I am suprised that they are not more widely available. This is perhaps my single favorite Auriou carving chisel.
Note: The numbering system used here is based on the "London Pattern" system laid out by the English carving chisel makers in the 19th Century and the still the generally accepted standard in the English speaking world for classifying carving chisels. The French do not use this system, but for ease of selection we have translated the Auriou chisels into the equivalent "London Pattern" numbers where applicable.
